The 2019 championship season reached its penultimate event with the Scottish Pipe Band Championships at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton. 120 pipe bands and 28 drum majors from Eire, Northern Ireland and Scotland competed in very challenging conditions. Despite the terrible weather West Dunbartonshire Council were happy with the estimate 12,000 visitors who attended the event.
In the premier Grade 1 event Inveraray and District were crowned the 2019 Champions, the band following on from their recent success at the European championships. The best drum corps title went to Scottish Power, giving leading drummer Jake Jorgensen his first grade 1 title in charge. Scottish Power went on to finish in the runners up spot whilst Field Marshal Montgomery, St Laurence O'Toole - Eire, Peoples Ford Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia and Police Scotland Fife completed the prize list.
