The 2017 championship season continued at Forres, Moray where spectators once again came in their tens of thousands to witness the European Championships. The event organisers Piping At Forres reported their delight at the footfall in the fifth year the European Championships has been held in Forres.

113 bands and 33 Drum Majors made the trip to Forres in what was the second of the current three-year deal for the European Championships.

The Adult Drum Major title was won by Jason Price from Ravara in a very tight final with the top three all separated on a marching and discipline preference.

Gibb Fraser from Coalburn IOR won the Juvenile grade and Abigail Wenlock from Shotts and Dykehead won the Junior grade.

The Grade 1 title went to Inveraray and District, under the leadership of Pipe Major Stuart Liddell they secured their second title of the 2017 season. Under Leading Drummer Steven McWhirter Inveraray and District also took the European drumming title.

Field Marshal Montgomery took the runners-up spot finishing three points behind Inveraray and District. Scottish Power, St Laurence O'Toole, Peoples Ford - Boghall and Bathgate Caledonia and Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia completed the Grade 1 prize list.

Grade Juvenile Drumming - Dollar Academy

Grade 4A Band - 3rd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland
Grade 4A Drumming - Kinross and District

Grade 4B Band - Elgin and District
Grade 4B Drumming - Kilmarnock

Grade Novice A Band - Ross and Cromarty Pipes and Drums School
Grade Novice A Drumming - George Watons's College

Grade Novice B Band - Oban High School
Grade Novice B Drumming - Queen Victoria School
