RSPBA Summer School 2014 update

The Summer School will take students on a journey to improve their Piping and Drumming. It starts with the level at which students currently play and looks at what they need to help them develop as performers. A group of experienced instructors will support and guide each student throughout the week, helping them to achieve their ambitions as players. The summer school aims to increase students’ knowledge and understanding of music theory and how to apply that in improving musical performance.

Students will also meet top bands and players. The week starts on Sunday with a visit to Inveraray Pipe Band, led by Pipe Major Stuart Liddell and Leading Drummer Steven McWhirter. On Tuesday, students will meet Craig Munro of Wallace Bagpipes who currently competes with the St Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band from Dublin. Craig is also a member of the “Red Hot Chili Pipers”. On Thursday evening, students will visit Greater Glasgow Police Pipe Band, led by Pipe Major Duncan Nicolson and Leading Drummer Eric Ward, Eric is a keen supporter of the RSPBA’s education programme.

There are still some places for students. If you are interested, please contact:
