Details

The 2018 major championships continued with the European Championships at Forres, Morray. This was the final year at Forres after 6 wonderful years, record crowds flocked to the event held in glorious sunshine. A new deal has been signed to keep the competition in the North of Scotland at Inverness from 2019.

105 bands from around the United Kingdom, Eire, Denmark and Australia as well as 33 Drum Majors made the trip to Forres to compete for the title of European champion in their respective grades.

Thanks to RSPBA Photographer Peter Hazzard we will have another large gallery of images in the coming days.

Our Twitter feed with close to 8,000 followers was again very popular providing coverage of the Grade Juvenile and Grade 2 events as well as various updates, images and videos throughout the day. If you're not following us yet, you can view our feed at https://twitter.com/rspbahq.

We also recorded both Grade Juvenile and Grade 2 events and these are now available on our RSPBA Youtube Channel.

The Adult Drum Major title was won by Liam Renton from Inveraray and District. The Juvenile event was won by Kara Gilmour from Strathclyde Fire and Rescue Services and Abigail Wenlock from Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia won the Junior grade on a marching and discipline preference to take her second title in 2 weeks.
