Scottish Champions 2016 - Inveraray and District

The 2016 championship season continued at Levengrove Park, Dumbarton where over 25,000 spectators flocked to witness the Scottish Championships.

141 bands and 48 Drum Majors made the trip to Dumbarton to compete for the title of Scottish champion in their respective grades.

The Adult Drum Major title was won by Paula Braiden from Cullybackey. Gibb Fraser from Coalburn IOR won the Juvenile grade and Kathy Hunter from Manorcunningham won the Junior grade. All three drum majors won their first championships of 2016.

The Grade 1 title went to Inveraray and District from Scotland, under the leadership of Pipe Major Stuart Liddell they secured their second title of the 2016 season after winning the British title in May. Inveraray and District under Leading Drummer Steven McWhirter also lifted the drumming title taking their third drumming title of the 2016 season.

St Laurence O'Toole took the runners-up spot finishing seven points behind Inveraray and District. Shotts and Dykehead Caledonia, Field Marshal Montgomery, Scottish Power and Police Scotland Fife completed the Grade 1 prize list.

Grade Juvenile Drumming - George Heriot's School

Grade 4A Band - Ullapool and District
Grade 4A Drumming - Ullapool and District

Grade 4B Band - Johnstone
Grade 4B Drumming - Elgin and District

Grade Novice A Band - Dollar Academy
Grade Novice A Drumming - Dollar Academy

Grade Novice B Band - Kintyre Schools
Grade Novice B Drumming - Preston Lodge High School
