2012 marks the fortieth anniversary of the Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band.
From its formation in 1972 and debut in competition the following year, the organisation quickly earned the reputation for developing and nurturing young talent. This model quickly delivered a steady rise in standard and status, resulting in promotion to the highest echelon of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association, Grade 1, by 1980.
Since it's elevation to the premier grade, "The Boghall" has gained a reputation as consistent performers, winning many major championship titles over the past thirty years. This continued success has been largely built around the teaching and development of young home-grown players, gaining essential piping and drumming experience through the organisation's Novice & Juvenile "feeder" bands, which are successful in their own right. This steady stream of potential has ensured a measure of consistency that serves as a blueprint for the teaching and promotion of youth which is now emulated throughout the pipe band world.
This landmark year sees the Boghall organisation return to the stage at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall to present the annual pre-world championship event at the invitation of the Glasgow Skye Association Pipe Band.
The "Forte" concert will be the band's second opportunity to perform, at what is a pre-eminent fixture in the piping calendar, after their first appearance in 2004.
Tickets are now on sale and can be purchase directly from the Concert Hall Website
